Removed a Virus That a ‘Big Box’ Store Could Not Fix

June 22nd, 2011

After a terrible experience with a ‘Big Box’ IT department which promised virus elimination but only left me with more problems than I had to begin with, Allan at Proven Solutions worked tenaciously until all problems were solved. I will recommend this company to everyone I know.

I was impressed by His Knowledge and His Desire to Work Around my Schedule

February 21st, 2011

I’m very grateful that I stumbled upon Proven Solutions.
I had a bad virus (System Tools) take over my computer and had spent hours on the phone with various support people from spyware companies and purchased virus removal tools that did not work.
I realized the problem was beyond me but initially hesitated to involve a professional as I pictured having to leave my notebook somewhere for days to a week and wanted the problem resolved quickly.
I called Proven Solutions where I spoke with Allan and was immediately impressed by his knowledge and his desire to work around my schedule.
I had my computer back about 24 hours later (he dropped it off at my home on a Saturday)…virus free and functioning better than ever!
Would not hesitate to recommend him to anyone.
Thanks again!

How to Determine if a Security Alert is Really From Microsoft

January 9th, 2011

This post is the first in a series regarding Microsoft Security Alerts and Updates.

We frequently receive questions as to whether an Email from Microsoft regarding a security update is real or a fake.
We encourage everyone to be careful with every Email because it may contain or link to a virus or other malware.
This includes Emails that are supposedly from Microsoft.

One of the current scams involves receiving an Email with an attachment regarding a Microsoft Security Alert.
According to the contents of the Email, the security update is contained in the attachment.
When you run the attachment, a worm is installed on your computer that will spread by sending itself as another attachment to everyone in your address book.
The purpose of this worm is to form a botnet of many computers which may be used to send massive amounts of spam, attack Web sites, etc.

Here are some simple tips that will help you determine if the Microsoft Security Alert is an obvious fake:

  • Microsoft will never include an attachment with a security alert.
  • The grammar is incorrect.
  • There are spelling mistakes.

Additional information about how to determine if a Microsoft security related Email is genuine can be found here.

If you do receive a fake Microsoft Security Alert, delete the Email right away and permanently (also delete it from your ‘trash’ or ‘deleted’ folder).
If you have installed the attachment, contact us immediately so that we can remove the virus / worm.
Not sure if you have installed the attachment? Contact us and we will help you determine if you are infected and remove the infection if necessary.

System Tools Virus

January 3rd, 2011

Our office received many requests to remove the System Tools “Virus” recently.

Some of the symptoms may include:

  • The image below is displayed on your screen.
  • You cannot start certain programs such as your browser.
  • Your computer is running slower than usual.

This malware is not really a virus according to this definition.
You are actually infected with scareware because it tries to convince you that a virus has infected your computer and suggests that you pay for and download fake antivirus software to remove it.
In reality, the virus is not real and the suggested software is non-functional or malware itself.

If you are infected with the System Tools Virus, please follow these steps:

  • Do not click on the image or try to close the window.
  • Do not purchase or download the software that it recommends.
  • Contact Proven Solutions immediately and we will remove this infection from your computer.
  • If you live in or around Toronto Ontario we can remove the System Tools Virus at your home or our office.

I Will Spread the Word About Your Company

January 3rd, 2011

Allan,
I have to tell you that I was VERY impressed with your service. Not only were you quick and very helpful but my computer works perfectly now! I’ve never had my computer serviced and not had to reload or fix something when it came back so it was such a pleasure to turn my computer on and have everything there and exactly the same as when I brought it in (just faster and better!). I’m so thrilled that I found you and I will definitely be a return customer and will spread the word about you and your company.

Remarkable Customer Experience

August 7th, 2010

During the last couple of months I have had an extensive experience of consuming Proven Solutions’ services in regard to fixing a hardware problem, local networking and customized software solutions. My overall impression from this collaboration is extremely positive. I do not want to specifically mention the technical knowledge and professional approaches of this firm – they are obvious and out of the question. My focus now is on their customer satisfaction efforts.

First of all, it was the shortest feedback time I’ve ever met in requesting computer services. When one has substantial problems with computing devices and applications, a prompt reply from the IT professional is so important. The next steps done by Allan and his Team are even more impressive. All the offered services are thoroughly planned and agreed with the client. The distinct rates and prices are quoted for each work phase. You always have options and alternatives for going forward and respectfully participate in the decision-making process. This cooperation always results in satisfactory outcomes for the client and full operational status for your IT.

When you have an emergency situation with your computer systems I strongly recommend that you ask for Proven Solutions’ assistance and share the remarkable customer experience they promise.
